TODDLER ACTIVITIES – COVID Edition
We are living in new times. It’s hard enough to try to keep yourself sane but how about your kids? My toddler got bored and kept acting out but I didn’t want to take the baby anywhere for fear of catching COVID. Here are some things we did to keep the kids entertained and the germs away.
Backyard play
My son loves being outside. He has a little slide, ball house, and plastic bbq as well as a water table to keep him entertained outside while I sit with the baby. Sometimes he requires a lot of my attention so I baby-wear to be able to play with him while still holding her. Recently, my husband and I got a fire pit. Now we sit outside and roast marshmallows together while my son plays. He also loves to warm his hands by the fire when its cold out. We also like to play soccer or tag outside to be in the fresh air.
FaceTime play dates
When my entire family caught COVID we spent the entire month of November at home and didn’t see anyone. That was not only trying for me and my husband but can you imagine how out of routine my kids were. Everyday we made it a point to FaceTime with family so the kids could see other people. And we had a zoom Thanksgiving with my mom, aunt, and cousins from Orlando. We stayed home but still got to socialize with fam so it was super nice.
Drive-through experiences
After having COVID in November we got really paranoid. I literally did not want to do a thing but it was the holidays and I didn’t want the kids to miss out. Luckily there were 2 drive through experiences happening that we were able to go to. We went to Jurassic Quest and Santa’s Spectacular Drive thru. They were super cheesy and super fun to get out of the house and see different things from the safety of your car.
Go to the zoo
You may thinking “ummmm the zoo is a public place. How’s that COVID friendly”. But it is! The great thing about zoos is that they are outside. You are can stay away from other people, and walk all around looking at the animals. I too was skeptical before we went to the Atlanta zoo. I saw all the cars in the parking lot and almost turned right around. However, I’m super glad we went in because it was extremely safe. People were so far from each other. Everyone was wearing a mask except for the little kids (like mine) but we were so far from anyone else, like way more than 6 ft, that I felt totally safe.
Go to the park
The park is also outside and you can be as far from others as you want. So whether you just wanna go for a walk, keep the kids in the stroller, or let them play out in an open field that is 0K. And if no one else is there and you wanna let them play in the playground they will have so much fun.
Hope that you are navigating these new times with ease and that these tips help make it just a little bit better. If you have any additional tips for me that I didn’t think about please leave a comment and maybe I can add it to this post.

Very fun ideas! I have a toddler that refuses to wear a mask so going anywhere can get stressful. Thanks for the ideas!

We’ve been doing a lot in our backyard during this pandemic! Firepits at night, football during the day. And we even purchased a bounce house off of Amazon because our parks were all closed for a long time and our numbers are so high we aren’t comfortable going to them now. And the drive throughs! We pack some tasty snacks and the kids love it! Thanks for sharing all your tips!

I am so disappointed in the TV series. I LOVED the book and so looked forward to the show. I think it fell flat and missed the drama and intrigue of the book. Ranique Jase Marcellus
